Sigma Alpha History
Sigma Alpha began because five young women had a goal to achieve their educational and career goals in agriculture. Today, over 17,000 women have been impacted by Sigma Alpha.
In 1978, Sigma Alpha was founded. And today, the legacy continues.
When Ann Huling (left) and Debbie Hedge (right) graduated from The Ohio State University, they left not knowing whether the legacy they started as a founding member and charter member of Sigma Alpha would continue. More than forty years later, their legacy lives on.
Forty-two years ago, Amy Mathews (center) helped found a sisterhood of agricultural leaders, to which Cindy Armstrong (left) and Carol Harvey (right) chose to join as charter members.
